Today we met with Lee Rawlings who is the Service User / Carer Involvement Officer at the AWP.
We talked about the Carers Charter that has been drafted by Lu Duwig of the AWP. We spoke our unhappiness at the lack of carers involvement in writing this charter. We drafted a letter to Lu Duwig expressing our concerns and inviting her down to meet us and talk. Watch this space for dates.
We also talked about the new Carers Act going through parliament. It looks as though if it passed, carers will have statutory rights to things like assessments and local authority support.
Lee Rawlings is hoping to meet everybody again at the next meeting on 2nd September, so please come along and meet her.
